Aaron Tabor MD, MPH
Founder and President
Aaron, the founder of Make A Change International, is a board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009 from Elmhurst College, with a minor in communication studies. He went on to receive a Master of Public Health in 2011 from Benedictine University. He completed his medical school studies at Rush Medical College in 2015 and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit in 2018. In 2015 he was presented with the National Award for Excellence in Public Health from the United States Public Health Services. Aaron met his wife, Diana, who is a foot and ankle surgeon, while on a medical mission trip in the Dominican Republic and they have continued to go on mission trips together. They enjoy traveling and seeing the world, and now with the new addition of their son, Atlas, they are excited to continue having adventures together. In addition to medicine, Aaron has a background in music and has worked as a music director at multiple churches over the years. He also has many years of experience working in home improvement and construction and has started to integrate construction into public health-focused trips and has had the privilege of bringing his dad and brother, Brian, on construction trips to the Dominican Republic.
Tom Smoot, PharmD, BCPS
Development Officer
Tom, a clinical pharmacist, has worked with Make A Change International for many years and volunteered in both the Dominican Republic and Haiti on medical, public health, and construction service trips. Tom received his Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Mount St. Mary's University in 2007 and his PharmD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011. He completed his Critical Care Pharmacy residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and subsequently worked as an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist, where he met Aaron, and currently works as a critical care pharmacist at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Maryland. Tom has been a faithful volunteer with Make A Change International, and serves as a co-lead on medical service trips. In addition to running the pharmacy for the clinics, he also has built an electronic medical record that we have been able to use to track patients and medications, and he designed and manages our website and fundraising platforms. Outside of work and service trips, Tom loves spending time with his two children and has many outdoor hobbies.
Jason Zimmermann, MD
Treasurer
Jason is a board-certified general surgeon. He graduated with Aaron from Rush Medical College in 2015 and went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at the University Of Illinois Medical Center. He subsequently completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Veterans Administration Medical Center at George Washington University. He received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Wheaton College in 2007. After college he spent 5 months in the Republic of Congo where his interest in medicine and international health care began. After returning to the US he worked as a patient care tech in an Emergency Department while taking additional courses at Dominican University prior to starting at Rush. Jason and Aaron also spent a month together working at a hospital in the Congo during medical school and Jason has been part of Make A Change International from the beginning. He lives in Wheaton with his wife and 3 kids and practices surgery in the chicago-land area.
Mark Aloisio
Vice-President
Mark is an Executive Director, Private Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Chicago. He graduated from Elmhurst College in 2009. A classmate of Aaron, he has been a supporter from the beginning and continues to support Make A Change International in many different ways. Serving as the Vice-President, Mark has always helped further the vision of Make A Change International and continues to be a valuable member of our team. In addition to graduating with a marketing degree from Elmhurst, Mark was part of the basketball team and also worked with Aaron as part of the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry during their college years. He lives with his wife and 3 children in Wheaton and continues to further his career as a Private Banker.
